The 15-metre pool running toward the two-storey villa

Villa Selena

Bali

Indonesia

The idea

The villa
is the holiday

A brand-new four-suite home on a quiet street in Seminyak, built around one long pool and a living room with no walls.

Most Bali itineraries are a list of places to get to. This one isn’t. Eight guests can spread out across two floors all day, then end up at the same table in the evening. The beach is close. You may not go.

The long pool between sun loungers, lit at dusk The sculpted tree in its gravel planter, under the skylight The open kitchen bar, looking out to the deck and the pool
  1. 01

    The pool

Fifteen metres long and about four wide, in the sun all day, with a shallow ledge for lounging while the kids swim. The house wraps around it.

  2. 02

    The tree

A sculpted “dollar tree” rises through the middle of the living room, under its own skylight. It’s the first thing you see, and the room is arranged around it.

  3. 03

    The deck

A BBQ and outdoor kitchen on the deck, with a fully equipped kitchen behind them. Pool days turn into long dinners without anyone needing to book a table.
